Albuquerque Winter Storm!

Be careful out there Albuquerque, Los Lunas, Belen, and throughout New Mexico! New Mexico is receiving significant snowfall today, February 10th, through Superbowl Sunday, February 11th, with snow throughout the northern and central sections of the state. Per weather.com, Interstate I-40 will be experiencing snow throughout its length across New Mexico including 3 to 4 inches in Tucumcari, 4 to 6 inches in Clines Corners, about an inch or so in Albuquerque, and 1 to 2 inches in Gallup. I-25 will have about an inch of snow starting south of Socorro through Albuquerque, around 4 inches in Santa Fe, almost a foot of snow in Las Vegas, and another foot of snow near Raton! Be safe out there with these high snow levels. Remember that bridges will freeze over first!

Sadly, these types of winter conditions usually increase car accidents, semi-truck accidents, and motorcycle accidents throughout our state. The Bernalillo County Sheriffs have already reported 6 car crashes.  Albuquerque Police Department is reporting a variety of car accidents throughout Albuquerque. The New Mexico State Police have reported a two vehicle fatal crash in Colfax County.  Blizzard conditions can result in unseen black ice making it hard to stop or steer, white-out conditions making it hard to see and keep a proper lookout, and cause other drivers to behave erratically if they are scared of the conditions or lack the proper driving methods for driving in the snow.
